A close friend and co-worker's son is being shipped off to Iraq
We'll call him "Bud". He joined the National guard last year because he felt he needed to do something for the community at large, and he also got conned by a recruiter (IMHO). But the other day, they told him next month he is shipping out and his "mission" will be to protect contractors who are rebuilding the Iraqi infrastructure.

The problem is, where he is going is only a few miles from the Iranian border. Neither he nor I believe he will be protecting "contractors". What is worse is his Mom is fighting lung cancer, so the stress on both of them is unfathomable.

Why must this misAdministration continue to lie to the American public, and send it's children to protect it's financial interests and not the interests of it's Citizens.

For those of you who believe in Prayer, please say one for my friend and her son, and the rest, please try and send good vibes that he may return safely.

2. More and more people are being affected. Best of luck.
I posted a request for vet help info a few months ago for an acquaintence's son who was discharged after a couple Iraq tours, due to PTSD. The local business his parents owned has been shut down, I think they moved across the country to be near him and help him. They went from flaggie waving people to confused to pissed off folks.

Best of luck to your friend, the son, all the family.

4. Good Vibes
The Military is a great thing for most people, but you have to know you are protecting America, not illegally invading other Countries, and guarding Contractors that are looting The US Treasury in no-bid contracts..

5. Beg with him, plead with him, and do anything in your power to get him not to go

This kid should not be sentenced to war for naivety and ignorance.

I am so sorry. It is awful.

The majorities silence is deafening.

15. Being yanked away from home is the only probable outcome
when joining a military that is currently fighting on two fronts.

However, worrying about him is to be expected.

17. Worrying isn't the same thing as crying foul because the military still works like it always has.
:eyes:

By the way, Baghdad is only about 70 miles from Iran...people don't think about that very much it seems.

16. Wow. National Guard having to go to Iraq. Ten years ago it was
probably inconceivable.

I hope his time there is quiet and he gets home with peace of mind and safely. Sorry about his mom.
