"Because people won't give their money until there is a nominee."
That is what a Democratic official told me was the main reason to end the nomination process as quickly as possible.

I disagree. Both Hillary and Barack have already raised much more than McCain. There will still be ten weeks between the convention and the election. They are both getting more media attention than McCain. They have both already exposed the so-called faults of each other. The voters are already significantly split.

So unless it will hurt the candidates for other offices, I see little to worry about not having a nominee before the convention.

What am I missing?

1. There are two seperate campaign funds
Primary and GE.

That official probably meant for the GE fund for the two candidates.

4. OK...
Is McCain collecting money for the GE now? Or does he have to wait?

3. That's me.
I put money down the drain in primaries in 2004.
If I can afford to give anything it'll be after we pick a candidate.

5. I've given all I'm going to for the Primaries. . .
once a nominee is selected -- whichever candidate it proves to be -- I'll send a lot more than I have so far, but until then, I'm tapped out for primary contests.

I can wait until after the convention to have a nominee, as well. I see nothing wrong with the democratic process.
