Tonight on PBS' Nova there is a show about the origin of flowers. That is all I know about it. When I saw that it occurred to me that that at over 60 years old I am a blank slate as far as knowledge of the origin of flowers goes. I don't know a damned thing about it, not a shred. Bet a lot of you don't either. So I'm going to learn something tonight, something I knew nothing about what so ever. I just love it when that happens. Comes on at eight if you're interested.

6. Which came first, flowers or bees?
Flowers need bees for pollination,
but bees need flowers for nectar.

9. "Invented" by Dinosaurs...
...at least according to paleontologist Robert Bakker. His theory is that the selection pressure driving the evolution of flowers was the browsing of herbivorous dinosaurs in the Jurassic Period.
