McCain to appear on The Daily Show this eve (5/7/8)
Jon Stewart announced this at the very end of his program last night. Wonder if Jon will treat him with any roughness at all? He was pretty harsh with him last time (at least for Jon).

TDS and Colbert have become even more serious players since the strike. The two-night John Oliver piece on the Pollies was hysterical in a Michael Moore sort of way, too.

1. I wonder if Jon will mention that he only picked up about 75% of the vote?
(The rest being taken by Huckabee, Paul and "other"?)

3. Jon's rough treatment is a talent
He can get away with comments others cannot even dream of.

That said - I would doubt it. McCain is a great guest for him. He seems relaxed and human. Jon will make him feel at home.

and I did not think the last visit was all that harsh. Perhaps I missed one.

6. That's the thing with Jon
Sometimes he hands them their livers and they don't even realize it. But overall, when they are in front of him, he is a gracious host. I like that about him, and I like that even if he doesn't eviscerate them to their faces, he does so with ease at other times. That man is a gift to our side and yes, he will take our side down a notch when we deserve it as we so often do.

8. Not that TDS's audience would largely be capable of appreciating that distinction
They wildly applaud the same for Bill Kristol or John Ashcroft as they do for whichever celebrity has them mesmerized.

9. They sure do, I refuse to watch Jon when he has the pukes on.
I love him, but I'm not watching the pukes for anyone.

10. Sure. A mock news outlet that is "truthier" than M$M is better than nothing
But it always makes me cringe when a right winger is the guest and the audience isn't informed enough to boo his ass off the stage.

25. The one thing about McCain's appearances on TDS is that...
...he never seems presidential.

Instead he seems very, very desperate.

Oh, and Stephen used to hate him for some reason...

12. which McCain will show up
McCain really has shown his true nature on his many Daily show appearances. Some visits he is friendly, funny and really has a positive effect on the audience. Some visits he's moody, angry and turns the audience against him. Oddly Jon really has no difference in approach to McCain in the visits. Jon no doubt plans to joke around a little with him and let McCain decide if he's going to be moody McCain or happy McCain. If I'm McCain's handlers I'm running the clips of the shows McCain looked friendly and telling him to do more of that.

13. They covered a lot of ground in the first five minutes I thought

Jon was punching, but letting McCain block his questions and get in his little jokes (sounded a bit scripted).

Jon has threatened the Octagon when they return from break.

We'll see.

on edit: spelling

Right into it.

"Will you repudiate and denounce President Bush?"

He walks out, but Jon puts him back in his chair.

20. McCain's just rambling
"Ron Paul's still in the race," opines the Republican party candidate for President.

You wanna backlash? Run THAT ticket, John.

Even the GOPs wouldn't vote for that ticket.
