The Coming War with Iran: 6 Days in Hell! (Yes, Newsmax, but bear with me...)
Well, basically, this shit scares me. Why is Noo Smacks running this stuff? The fact that this is an untrustworthy propaganda outlet actually makes the whole business more interesting. What's going on here?

http://w3.newsmax.com/a/apr07/?s=al&promo_code=6232-1

---------------------------------
Newsmax Magazine's blockbuster issue has major cover stories, including an exclusive special report by Newsmax contributing editor and Iran expert Kenneth R. Timmerman, "Six Days to War," which lays out the scenario likely to unfold if the U.S. and Iran go to war.

In Timmerman's report you'll find out why "Six Days to War" could happen sooner than you think — as many American assets are already "in position" for an attack. Timmerman also details the deadliness and unintended consequences of a U.S. attack against an increasingly militant Iran.

...

As the Bush administration ratchets up the pressure, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs says the military option is still on the table and warns Iran that the U.S. can launch massive strikes using Navy and Air power. The new American commander in the region, Gen. David Petraeus, has also told Congress that Iran is supporting Iraqi insurgents killing Americans. President Bush said in a White House address that Iran, along with al-Qaida, are "two of the greatest threats to America."

Timmerman's report on the looming war with Iran is based on sources including top Israeli intelligence officers, military and political leaders interviewed in Israel and Washington, D.C., and a key planning document — obtained exclusively by Newsmax — developed by the Iranian navy.

4. Franklin is in jail right?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20051103/pl_afp/usital ...

But committee staff sources say that before the cooperation ceased, the committee had received from Feith’s office internal memos suggesting that the office may indeed have been conducting unlawful activities. In particular, Democratic staffers are interested in a secret December 2001 meeting of two Feith deputies, Larry Franklin and Harold Rhode, with Ghorbanifar in Rome. The meeting also included members of a foreign intelligence service (Italy’s SISMI). The catch is that it wasn’t reported in advance to the intelligence committee or the CIA, in possible violation of Section 502 of the National Security Act, which says that anyone conducting intelligence activities must inform the committee and the agency

7. You should be scared.
Look - if we go to war with Iran - Hillary is not wrong exactly - we can incinerate them in about 30 minutes.

The problem is - if we do - so many interests - including China will react.

Used to be MAAD - a policy adopted by all nuclear powers. It means mutually agreed assured destruction. Like an auto response - accepted by all powers - it assumes all powers accept the premise of auto destruction on a first launch. What if they don't "accept it" - you know??

Man - we really could incinerate Iran in 30 minutes- the question is - what happens 30 minutes later??

In 1962 we had a true genuis in Kennedy - right now we a guy that probably is incapable of passing High school - you know?

Cowboy - in the worst sense of the word.

Bill

9. Welcome to DU!
Though I doubt we can "incinerate Iran in 30 minutes". Iran is, by all accounts, going to be a tougher battle, pound for pound, than Iraq was and we haven't exactly achieved victory in Iraq, either.

14. Well, I suppose we could nuke them into oblivion fairly quickly, but
that might make the oil kinda hard to recover, besides pissing off a lot of people in the neighborhood.

I won't.

If you're talking about turning the sands of Iran into glowing glass, I guess the thought of civilian casualties isn't going to loom large in your mind.

18. Sure you can in 30 minutes - more or less.
depends on the location of the missles.

Incinerate - no, more like kill every living thing in a 60 mile radius to impacts and make the ground uninhabitible - for what, a thousand years. Oh -we can do that.

Fact is - if there are subs in the right place - more like 10 minutes.

You think we may not - we may fight some kind of conventional war - maybe it starts that way - but make no mistake - we can do exactly as I said - these guys we have in our military - they are that good at war.

Hey - it is what they are supposed to do - they don't get a voice in the political - they execute policy - and they are that good.

In the history of the world - our army is the best there ever was or probably will be.

I doubt that would do much to help our "war on terror".

I think their fake little Iranian Weapons show-and-tell that they had to call off was another indication that very soon now they're gonna do something that the rest of us are going to regret forever.

17. Who would Cheney bomb?
His Cheney's Cheney is about to testify, probably after Yoo? Philippe Sands said that something happened in the last few days to make them change their minds. Sands told congress that the world was waiting for us to take care of our "problem" torture thing or else THEY would.
