Is G.D. The New Lounge of the DU?

Since the splitting of the major forums here I have noticed a subtle change in the kind of threads in GD. Things that are frilly and fun loving are here now. Things you would never see here prior to the Primary Pages were set up. What do you think of this?:shrug: Let's get to the bottom of this here change in venues.

I've noticed the slight transition of posts in GD. Many of us aren't prepared for the name-calling and tension produced by GDP, so GD is a much more comforting place.

The Lounge has often contained quite a few posters who enjoy what might be construed as cliques, regardless of who posts there. IMHO, I enjoy the company of those in GD as a result. I will post to the Lounge when I have a thread that could only be looked at as frivolous, but often find the silence in replies deafening--there are a couple of folks who are supportive regardless, and those are very much appreciative. But GD is, to me, a lot friendlier, a lot more like home.

For better or worse, I like to take some issues more seriously, and that doesn't go too well in the Lounge, whereas the Lounge often has far more levity that I personally care for right now.

So yes, GD has become my home for now. Maybe after the elections, GD will assume a graver tone, but right now, the chair is perfect.
