Republican magazine aimed at blacks takes Democrats to task ...
CAMPAIGN 2008 | REPUBLICANS
Magazine pushes racial buttons
A Republican magazine aimed at blacks takes Democrats to task for the party's racist past. Democrats are hitting back.

TALLAHASSEE --
For a sign of Florida Republicans' all-out effort to attract black voters, look no farther than the glossy full-colored The Black Republican magazine that launches broadsides like these:

The KKK was the ''terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.'' Democrats, in addition to waging ''war on God,'' are still mired in sex and financial scandals.

That's all tucked in the back of the Sarasota-based National Black Republican Association's 60-page mag, the first half of which touts Republican Gov. Charlie Crist's civil rights record and the Republican Party of Florida's minority outreach efforts that the association has helped coordinate.

The strident comments and images -- replete with a Ku Klux Klan rally snapshot that notes ''every person in this photo was a Democrat'' -- has outraged Democrats and caught the Republican Party of Florida flat-footed as well.

''Oh my gosh,'' party spokeswoman Erin Van Sickle said when told of the magazine's content, which she described as ``inflammatory.''

9. Ha. Actually I'll bet you Amos & Andy had tons more soul than Clarence "Uncle" Thomas.

Those guys (I refer to Amos & Andy) had to yuk it up for a country that considered them second class. I'll just bet ya they weren't no Republipigs.

Clarence "Uncle" Thomas, J. C. Watts (what a dildo)...I just don't get these people. I'll bet, when listening to music, they snap their finger on 1 and 3. That's a dead giveaway: bad case of Terminal Whiteness. Sad.

Black Republicans.....my head hurts....

What isn't mentioned is that most of the racist, fascist pro-KKK democrats left to become republicans in teh 60s and 70s and that they still make up a huge part of the GOP base.

I wonder if they'll mention Ronald Reagan (who was a democrat until the civil rights era) giving a speech in 1979 about 'states rights' in the same town where 3 civil rights activists who were trying to register black voters were murdered.

10. We've come a long way, but
we still got a damn long way to go. It's all about being separate. Peoples need to learn from each other. Can't do that with the cheap gas suburb separateness that taints our country. And the cheapness of the media.

Langston Hughes said "Please let America be America again". I think he was talking about America living up to it's promise.

11. "Vote for us or we'll put YOU on our caging lists"
The main thrust of GOP outreach to minorities in Florida so far has been massive voter suppression efforts.

Must have a new guy at the "Department of Violently Oppressing Minorities" department. Ah, well, I'm sure it will be sorted out by election day. Those black votes aren't going to surpress themselves!!!!!

15. The Dixiecrats were a thorn in the Democrats' side until the Civil Rights era
The KKK was the ''terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.' WAS--past tense! Now the KKK is the terrorist arm of the Republican Party, along with the "patriot" militias, the Aryan Nations, the Christian Identity crackpots, etc.

16. uhhh The KKK was
the Democratic party was originally composed of douche bag southerers and pissy ex-confederates. Why do you think the democrats didn't have any power for so long? They were southerners after the civil war. All the republicans had to do was say, "We had Lincoln. Oh yeah didn't you start the civil war? I win."

If only we could banish the republicans for mostly being southerners...
