This might siphon off some of the fundies from McGramps. Barr is libertarian on things like the Iraq War and the Patriot Act but he's a typical right winger on social issues.

5. Hadn't thought about GA
probably because that's where I live, too close to the material!

Yeah, it might very well help put that state in play. You have maybe ten percent or so of uppity, angry white men and the womenfolk who vote as they're told; and you have a very motivated 32% of Georians who are eager to vote for the first African American presidential nominee, and it doesn't look so great for McSame.

3. Go, Bob, Go!
Actually, if you were willing to overlook that whole "dismantle government and leave everyone to fend for themselves" business, which is more than I will do, Barr is very sane-sounding about civil liberties.

I think he'll siphon mostly Goopers, but he'll probably grab more on-the-fence independents who'd otherwise vote Obama than we might imagine.

Still, this is good news, overall, for our chances.

7. I doubt it
The Libertarians were going to run someone anyway; they always do. I doubt he can stroll in and get their nomination. There is a strong push for their convention to draft Ron Paul, but he says he won't take it.
