Transcript of Patrick Murphy, D-PA, on Countdown..pray for the troops.
He says pray for them, but he talks of congress finding 92,000 more to go. I was upset to hear him.

He said "the reality of it is our troops are spread very thin, and they need help, and we’re going to give it to them in Congress."

xxxxxxxxx

OLBERMANN: All right, specifically, what do you do about two Army brigades, the ones we just mentioned, going to Iraq this spring, no longer getting the specialized training to fight in the desert, because they’re part of this surge? What is Congress going to do to try to stop that from happening (INAUDIBLE)?

MURPHY: Well, the president has ordered them to go, and, you know, the reality of it is, I think all of us here at home need to pray for them. We’re looking at what we can do in Congress right now. We obviously have a supplemental coming up, and we look forward to -- You know, we were having these hearings. The reality of it is, is, you know, they didn’t even talk about it for the past six years. You know, they had a Congress that didn’t like to ask the tough questions.

And, you know, I, you know, General Pace—I served under him, obviously, you know, Keith, that I served in the military, just got off of active duty a few years ago. And, you know, I talked to him about the training of the Iraqis. I talked to him about the readiness issue.

And Congress, you know, has finally asked him, you know, Do you need more troops? Do you need more troops? Under Rumsfeld, they never needed more troops. And now they’re saying, We need 92,000 more. So we’re looking at how we could do that for them."

According to him they are going to send a lot more troops, then get down on their knees and pray for them.

1. I didn't care for it either
:(
All I know is if the Dems send 92,000 troops as well as the support troops that go with them, we'll be the party in the streets in 2008.
No Democrat needs to say this shit.

2. apart from that, what pissed me off about his comments was the standard "the iraqis need to sta
stand up" crap. as if THEY were somehow shirking THEIR responsibilities. last I checked, THEY did NOT ask us to invade and occupy their country, they did NOT ask us to disband their military and security forces, they did NOT ask us to provide conditions favourable to terrorists moving in.

WHY can our democratic representatives NOT speak the truth about this situation? and how in the HELL can he defend pace?

4. That new meme of theirs
about the Iraqi's needing to stand up for themselves is what gets me too. I can't believe how many dems are saying that. Wrong in so many ways. We should be apologizing to the people of Iraq not belittleing them like they were somehow weak and causing their own problems. The least we can do is stand up and admit what we have done.

5. Why would they send him on Countdown to say these things?
Confused minds want to know. I gather they really are going to send more troops, more money, and leave them there.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Little Boots decides to bomb Iran. 3 guesses how safe our soldiers will be then.

6. I get so sick of hearing the "pray for our troops" line. It's always the standard
fall back phrase when they don't know what the hell else to say. Just absolute meaningless shitty rhetoric. They don't even mean it.

8. You guys do know who is charge of messaging for the House, don't you?
Rahm is. And this is the message he is sending us...via Patrick Murphy...that we are going to send more troops and money to Iraq.

That is the bottom line.
