Horse with an artificial leg
I ran across this on Snopes, it is true. A pretty cool story.

2. I was wondering if they could apply something like this to horse racing
I don't know if it would have worked for 2 broken legs. But for something like Barbaro, would it have been better to amputate and give him an artificial limb? I don't know the answer as to if it would be better or not, but it does bring up some options at least.
