Did anyone see these two stories --Sportsmanship,Character and whawhawhat?
On Saturday Western Oregon’s Sara Tucholsky hit her first home run over the fence ever. But while rounding the bases tore an ACL. She desperately tried to do what she could to make it back up but couldn’t.The umpires reinforced the rule that no one on her team could run for her- or help her- or it would only be a two run single. Mallory Holtman(all time conference home run leader) and LIz Wallace on the opposing team(Central Washington) felt it wasn’t fair because Sarah deserved the home run. So in an act of sportsmanship they carried her around the bases. There was no rule against that. Oh yeah, they lost 4-2. Um, the game that is. But they won the admiration of the whole crowd. This story is the material of sermons on Sunday and I think an inspiration for all.
In a separate story a so-called “Yankee fan” drove her car into a crowd of Boston Red Sox fans she had been arguing with in a bar, killing a man and injuring several others. This is the material for angry bloggers and horror movies.

1. I heard the first story on the Colbert Report.
It made me cry. Talk about sportsmanship. These young women should be so proud of themselves.
The second story makes me sick.

3. Ms. Greyhound read that to me the day after it happened and we both got pretty misty.
BTW, neither of us are sports fans (although I do like hearing that the Broncos are winning).
:kick:

*ducking*

Don't tell Yavin4 I said that.

All right, tell him. Fine. See if I care.

;)

(that first story is one I've been telling people about for a couple of weeks now...these little cracks of daylight...)
