So now cowboy diplomacy is the standard norm?

Bush wants to paint Obama as a 21st century Neville Chamberlain, eh?

But what if Nixon had never gone to China?
What if Gerald Ford had never negotiated SALT I?
What if, instead of working with Gorbachev to tear down the Wall, Reagan simply steamrolled into East Germany?
What if Bush I hadn't worked with the UN to amass the largest coalition in the history of warfare to remove Iraq from Kuwait, then decided to foolishly go all the way into Baghdad?

These people don't remember the history of their own party!

Edit: John Kerry just made the same point on CNN!

1. It's called selective memory
And it's worked well for the Repubs for years and years.

3. Cowboy diplomacy has been the norm
since Ronnie Ray-gun, who extended the Cold War by years due to all his saber rattling against the USSR.

4. Well, it can be argued that it was an arms race to bankrupt the USSR
But you can't exactly do that with a non-state actor...

Either way I just think it's BS that we can't negotiate with hostile countries, as if not talking has made any progress.
