Dad arrested for bomb threat over third grader's homework

Delaware County - The father of a third grader is in trouble with police for his explosive threat to a teacher. Police say the father threatened to blow up the school after a fight over who actually did his daughter's homework.

Police say the caller was talking about 40-year-old Richard Barnes, whose daughter is in third grade at Eaton Elementary. According to the superintendent and police, the trouble started a few days earlier when the girl's teacher asked her to re-do some homework.

"The parent was upset and wanted to argue that the handwriting was his daughter's and the work was hers and that it should be accepted," said Mapes.

"His comment was that he was going to blow up the building and then call the television station to witness it," Mapes said.
