For those who may not know, one of our own is going in for major surgery today.

w8liftinglady, who has been a major source of encouragement and inspiration to the Weight/Loss Maintenance group, as well as a long-time presence on DU in general, is having a pacemaker put in today.

She posted a couple of threads here in GD earlier, and it's apparent that she's very anxious - and possibly a bit depressed - about today's operation.

If you would, please keep this thread kicked and give it a recommend so that it makes the greatest page. Let's all wish her a smooth procedure and quick recovery!!

She may not be having surgery today. Maybe an extra blood alcohol test. If only to calm the nerves of the anesthesiologist. Much of what they use doesn't go well with alcohol or a hang over. I'm talking slip into a coma and die not go well.

w8lifitinglady, please be honest with your doctors about any alcohol you have used. We don't wanna lose you.

My Grandpa's pacemaker has saved his life about 8 times now! And he's gone in for constant adjustments/replacements over the last 15 years or so.

From one heart patient to another, put a smile on your face, hope in your mind and go in with a positive attitude. You will have plenty of time to complain when it is all over with. That is when you make those around you live hard as they wait on you hand and foot. ;)

Of course I am just joking, but everyone keeps telling me that a positive attitude is one of the most important things to help you through these things. Anyway, good luck and have a quick recovery.

I hope it's like my dad - a couple years ago, the doctors said he had end stage heart disease. They kept telling me to "be prepared." He was hospitalized several times and couldn't do anything but sit in his chair and watch tv. Then he got a pacemaker. Now, he's like the Energizer Bunny, we can't make him stop working in the garden or the workshop.
