Wexler promises inherent contempt for Karl Rove!
I'm not holding my breath on this one...and I'm guessing not many others on DU will be, either.

Dear Friend,
Recently, I appeared on MSNBC's Verdict with Dan Abrams to discuss Karl Rove's outrageous refusal to appear before Congress regarding serious allegations that he used the US Justice Department to take down a prominent Democratic politician. It is alleged that Mr. Rove personally instigated the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegleman. The case has been criticized by legal experts, and 52 former state attorneys general – both Republicans and Democrats – have criticized the case and called for an investigation.

If Rove refuses to testify voluntarily and ignores the subpoenas that will certainly be issued, he should be held in Inherent Contempt of the House of Representatives.

No American is above the law. None of us should be able to ignore Congress without consequence. If Mr. Rove ignores a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, then the House of Representatives should pass an Inherent Contempt citation and exercise our right to send the House Sergeant-of-Arms to gather Mr. Rove and bring him before Congress to testify.
I do not advocate this option lightly, but the reality is that Congress has few options left against an Administration that totally refuses to submit to any type of reasonable Congressional oversight. Congress has both the right and obligation to investigate these matters. Never before has an Executive so upset the checks and balances inherent in our Constitution. If we back off or delay, we effectively forfeit the power of Congress to investigate the Executive branch.

2. Isn't this the same song, just a different verse?
Unless I missed something, Miers, Bolten, and Addington are all still walking around, supremely unconcerned that they might be arrested by the House Sergeant-of-Arms.

6. hmmm. shrub can't pardon inherent contempt, though.
And if he's found guilty of criminal contempt, and shrub pardons *that*, then congress can just subpoena his ass again, round & round we go.

8. True, but
We can have Scooter Libby all over again. Rove on trial, convicted, and sentenced and then either pardoned or having his sentence commuted.

10. ... and then *Bam* resubpoena.
:)

I think procedural things like this are a little different from criminal convictions that have a clear endpoint and that can be pardoned/commuted.

7. I'm with you
I want to see his pasty face go green when he realizes his buddy-pal can't save him from the slammer. At that point, I'd actually be happy if he got an immunity deal and squealed on everything.

14. Thanks, and welcome to the team. You should be able to climb up
the list real fast with hardware like that. I'm just using a Mac Mini 2gig and I am ranked at #15 I just finished my 100th work unit.

18. i just found out i put the program in 4 years ago, forgot about it, my new rig will have "Soft Off"
and "Sleep", it will run at the minimum wattage to do whatever i have running, shuts everything else down. will slow the fans down to just maintain default temp on hardware, ANTEC 900 has a lot of fans

that way it never goes off all the way, but doesn't run all the time..it is easier on the computer in the long run.

i am such a homebody, i work/go home..58 no vices, it all began when my wifes computer started dying, she bought it on QVC, it was refurbished-6 years ago.. i suggested she take my Compaq presario and i would build one.. been talking about that for years, complaining about the shelf stuff not being upgradeable. and she said ok..:woohoo:

she knows nothing about computers, i am tired of the overclocked teenagers on Ritalin shoot'n me down and running over me before i see them coming on the multi-players. i hunted deals for months and found a lot of what i needed cheaper.. still spent more than i wanted.. but this one will last a long time.. i don't plan on over clocking it, it has a selection of Clock panels, i can write one up and store it for games.. then put it back in its folder. this motherboard is the first generation of 'Green' boards for power conservation and extended lifetime..it tells you whats wrong with it, all the electronic parts, capacitors/resisters are high end quality, lots of heat sinks to keep it cool.. and i have 5x 120mm fans, a 200mm fan, plus the PSU has a 120mm, the CPU fan is 92mm and a pound and a half of copper heat sink. i have a 120mm 79cfp fan blowing on anything that gets warm, some 3 fans.. and the basement is cool to cold all year.

i used to build avionic flight control circuit boards for the F22 and the Delta3 Rocket.. it was nice to play with the stuff again. i hope i can build some to sell, a guy i know makes mid-line computers custom, the new operating systems will be going to Vista. 32bit only runs 3.4GB RAM, Vista uses one up. i will be getting Dragon 9 voice operated software, types 160 wpm, it takes 1GB of ram, i lost my left hand last October typing is a pain with one finger. got to have nearly 2 to play the new games, Vista 64bit runs 8GB RAM.. i got Ocz reaper 1066 less than half price..discount plus rebate http://www.newegg.com is a great site, if you aren't in a hurry you can find a lot of things 1/2 price or less.. and amazon

later..

16. You are putting words into Congressman Wexler's mouth
He is not 'promise' to hold Rove in contempt. He only stated that he thought that Rove should be held in contempt. That is a big difference.
