7. speaking of that, has anyone seen the salute to the troops---with the Boeing tag
at the end?

Heaven forbid they actually salute the troops minus the fucking Boeing sign.

12. I remember thinking Boeing was a "happy company"
After all, I thought all they did was manufacture passenger jetliners. Passenger jets, the bubbly, friendly looking, happy jets that get people from place to place with the happy pilots and attractive stewardesses. Then I found out they made nuclear weapons, missiles and bombs. Not so friendly anymore.

8. Better to be feared than loved, paraphrasing Niccolo Machiavelli.
I disagree, from the perspective of building a peaceful, egalitarian world. From the perspective of merely gaining and holding power, it truly is better to be feared than loved, yet that means abandoning all hope of building a peaceful world. You may end up conquering all at the end, but that world would be one united not in peace but under the fear and terror of your power.

14. "conquering all at the end" a little Napoleon style self-engrandizement always helps
And doesn't that just fit the neocons.

15. "We're gonna FUCK YOU UP. NEEEEEEEER!"

There's no reasoning with people who equate diplomacy with weakness. Once the resources to power this image are gone, which will be soon, what will be left in the popular American psyche ?

Morality requires a spine, not a carapace.

21. So? That is not the purpose of an aircraft carrier, and that mission can be carried out better,
more quickly, and less expensively by purpose-built ships.

19. exactly....
....and it exists only to beat-down third-world people and to maintain our corporate empire....in an era of nuclear tipped strategic missiles, it's as irrelevant as the Maginot Line was in 1940....

....it's to keep real people democracy from occurring in the world as we aggressively promote our corporate version of democractic fascism....90,000 tons of wall street and corporate interest paid for by you and I....

....and for what?....gas is soon to be $5.00 a gallon....

22. Might makes right.
That's what the ad is saying. But how about less than twenty men taking out some aircraft in a building for less than what one of those engines cost? You can't control the whole world through force.

Why is "Mission Accomplished" not included in fun things to say on a carrier?
