Fear - a rant

It is what companies and others prey on. Radio ads tell me every hour I need to see my Dr. as I might have something I didn't even know existed before. People a world away want to come here and blow up my city, so I should give up my rights to save myself (because the only people that can save me are those in power...).

It goes on and on, this fear peddled to us that we may die too young.

Fear of people who own guns (My dad and family in general have had guns in their hands for over 50 years and never shot a person yet), Fear of people in religion (like those who help the poor and collect food for them), Fear of terrorists (those people a world away out to get us, which is why we wand little old ladies if their shoes have metal in them and make detectors go off), Fear of everyone...EXCEPT....

Our own government. They are the ones spying on me, reading my emails, telling me I am a potential threat to you, they are at the top of the 'food chain' and above reproach. We give them our money to keep us 'safe' and invite them in to our lives to scrutinize us daily on everything from Library books to financial transactions - but when we ask the same from them they hide.

You want to make me go through metal detectors, listen to what I tell my wife, read what I email to my friends and yet you balk at me wanting to do the same to you - when it is YOU with all the power?

We the people have fear. And it is from you. Our own government who will take our money and use it for wars, missiles, biological weapons, hand outs to the rich and wealthy, etc and so on.

And yet when we call you to testify to congress (ie, answering some questions) you decline. You claim special privilege and skate.

You peddle fear to us to control us, then when you are faced with fear (of testifying) you step aside and tell us you are special.

Screw you :)

How anyone could dispute the accuracy of your thoughts is beyond me...

voice inside my head. If it makes me feel afraid, I just say no - I don't care if it's making sense or not. It isn't my friend.

Healthy fear never makes you feel afraid, it makes you ACT. Unhealthy fear simply paralyzes so you can become somebody's lunch.
