1. Sensationalism. They do it with everything.
Notice how they don't give any comprehensive type of report. All part of the show.

2. I think their viewers
have just started to believe that oil is not wished into their tank by the gas fairy.

A core bit of the American cultural trance is on fire.

Me, I ride a bicycle and I know the price of gas still affects me daily.

5. Your right. Most people in the US have no clue whatsoever
about what it takes to make a gallon of gas. If they did they would be a lot less likely to piss it away so easily.
That would be a great news report. Too bad you will never see it.

7. of course if we wrap the cost of pollution onto a barell of oil it would
make batteries, solar, glass, manure, wind, wave et all other methods of energy look CHEAP by comparisson!

9. That would require us to realize
the oil generates wealth and *illth* in similar amounts.

It gave us incredible productivity, and gave us the 24 hour production cycle.
Power and poison, ease and greed-- oil enhances them all.

4. Don't you know, it's out of our control
There is nothing we can do about the price of oil, except watch in fascinated horror as it rises.

It's out of our control!
