Charles Manson prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's new book: The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder
http://theopinionmill.wordpress.com/2008/05/24/sunday-bookchat-28/

It was only to be expected that Vincent Bugliosi, the man who prosecuted Charles Manson, would turn his attention to George W. Bush. And, doing so, he asks: Why do so many people think impeachment is the proper response to Bush’s crimes and corruption?

Perhaps the most amazing thing to me about the belief of many that George Bush lied to the American public in starting his war with Iraq is that the liberal columnists who have accused him of doing this merely make this point, and then go on to the next paragraph in their columns. Only very infrequently does a columnist add that because of it Bush should be impeached. If the charges are true, of course Bush should have been impeached, convicted, and removed from office. That’s almost too self-evident to state. But he deserves much more than impeachment. I mean, in America, we apparently impeach presidents for having consensual sex outside of marriage and trying to cover it up. If we impeach presidents for that, then if the president takes the country to war on a lie where thousands of American soldiers die horrible, violent deaths and over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians, including women and children, even babies are killed, the punishment obviously has to be much, much more severe. That’s just common sense. If Bush were impeached, convicted in the Senate, and removed from office, he’d still be a free man, still be able to wake up in the morning with his cup of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice and read the morning paper, still travel widely and lead a life of privilege, still belong to his country club and get standing ovations whenever he chose to speak to the Republican faithful. This, for being responsible for over 100,000 horrible deaths?* For anyone interested in true justice, impeachment alone would be a joke for what Bush did.

As to what Bugliosi would do, take note that the title of his upcoming book is The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. Anybody out there ready to make this dream a reality?

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder
by Vincent Bugliosi

Book Description

Bestselling author Vincent Bugliosi has written the most important and thought-provoking book of his prolific career. In a meticulously researched and clearly presented legal case that puts George W. Bush on trial for murder after he leaves his presidency, Bugliosi delivers a searing indictment of the President and his administration.

With what he believes is overwhelming evidence that President Bush took the nation to war in Iraq under false pretenses--a war that has caused great loss of life, cost this nation close to $1 trillion, and alienated most of our allies in the Western world--Bugliosi argues that it is George W. Bush who must be held accountable for what Bugliosi considers to be monumental crimes.

In this groundbreaking book, Bugliosi, in his inimitable style, presents a powerful case against the man in the oval office.

6. but why understate Iraqi deaths?
the best study, by 'Lancet' 2 years ago, says the total is near a million dead....but thanks to carefully manufactured confusion, the total number is....dis or dat, whatever, sorta like the total number of US casualties. Bugliosi knows that, for all his crimes, bush wasn't alone doing it, and bugliosi himself was 100 percent in support of the War on Tots....until it started turning putrid on us, as opposed to the tots, who can go to hell, as far as Vincent etc cares. Maybe when the organised lynching of oj simpson turned bugliosi's crank 15 years ago was when he might have reconsidered - a dreary domestic murder should not have been allowed to be used by racist pigmedia to maka lotsa money and promote race hatred among the otherwise anti racist population (hey, Vincent says, what's wrong wid dat?)
Bugliosi and his fans will say 'there's no connect between oj and Iraq' but there is....

10. if the book leads to indictments, i'll join the fan club...
but doesn't mid 2008 seem rather late to confront the complacency? And the theft of the 2k election-its effect on the free press, turning it completely into a lapdog press; took place before the scheme to occupy Iraq got moving, and was in fact part of the process that today has Barack Obama representing the Great White Hope! Bugliosi plays this down...Why aren't you guys ENRAGED! (and the troops are killing themselves at unusual rates; surely the basic injustice of crushing a society that had already been crushed made being on bush's side almost unbearable when added to his ruining of the USA itself?)

7. Customer review:
(from Amazon)

"I had seen a pre-published version of this book and will now be buying it, as anyone with a sense of morality, ethics or patriotism MUST support its message, its conclusion and its brave author. I have all of Bugliosi's books, as he's one of the very few non-cowards writing in America today. He makes his case here, and to any rational mind (as opposed to the majority of the U.S. decision makers who pander to the marketplace of uninformed emotionalism), his conclusion is the only one possible or permissible in any civilized society -- which we in the U.S.A. (I don't say America, as Canada and the south Americas are generally more informed than we are on political matters), are every day becoming less qualified to call ourselves. This is an amazing book, full of unemotional wisdom, truth and common sense, and cannot be ignored by anyone interested in or passionate about the U.S. government."

I will be buying this book.
