A reader recently declared that George Bush will one day be viewed as one of the greatest presidents in our history, in spite of polls presently showing him with the lowest approval rating of any president in U.S. history.
That's a lot of garbage.
It is true that Harry Truman once had a low approval rating, but is now considered one of our better presidents. But Bush is no Harry Truman. Truman's popularity had sunk because of the Korean War. Distaste for George W. Bush is due primarily to his misguided Iraq adventure.
There is a big difference.
Truman brought the United States into the Korean War in coordination with the United Nations to save a friendly country that had been invaded by a communist power. There was a legitimate reason for getting involved.
