Looking back ........ and considering it in its totality .......
...... was the Bush presidency as bad in its own ways and in its own right as was the Nazi era?

While we didn't systematically kill 6 million of our own citizens, we did doe much else, the net result of which has been horrible for tens of millions, maybe more. He has arguably changed the world.

Is the comparison overblown? Or just politically incorrect?

If for no other reason than that I think it's warranted.

4. Geez Husb
It's not like we invaded another country.
It's not like we spied on our own citizens.
It's not like we opened concentration camps on foreign soil.
It isn't even like we opened the treasury and reigns of power to the corporations.

I think your just making molehills out of mountains, Cut it out!

5. The Soviet Model Would Fit Better
The Nazi answer to confrontation was immediate death and terror...I think it's a bit over the top to assign those same qualities here...and fortunately so. The Nazi references are easy to reach for...and one can easily draw similarities, but on the whole, we aren't living in a state where the party thugs drive through neighborhoods and racial purity was a party platform.

Instead, I see more of the Soviet model of creating the ultimate Orwellian state. It's to control the access of information, never trust anyone and serve the interests of the party ahead of the common good. It was wrapping up their totalitarianism with a flag or diversion that allowed massive corruption to occur. The decline of this regime is not unlike the collapse of the Soviets as their largess and lies finally caught up with them. Fortunately it didn't take us 75 years to get to that point...6 was enough.

6. NOT overblown at ALL. bushco has destroyed the lives of tens of millions, perhaps........
even hundreds of millions of people HERE and around the world. The bushco reign of terror will go down in history as one of the most tyrannical governments that has EVER existed.

8. Overblown
You don't have to be Hitlerian or even close to be a perfectly awful ratbag.

Hitler's reign led to about 60 million deaths; Bush's led to maybe 3 million. That makes Bush mighty bad -- but not at the level of Hitler. I'm sure each will have their own appropriate levels in Hell.
