Writes McClellan: "'The media won't let go of these ridiculous cocaine rumors,' I heard Bush say. 'You know, the truth is I honestly don't remember whether I tried it or not. We had some pretty wild parties back in the day, and I just don't remember.'

"I remember thinking to myself, How can that be? How can someone simply not remember whether or not they used an illegal substance like cocaine? It didn't make a lot of sense."

7. Bush did community service in Houston's 5th Ward in the 70's

because of what was likely a result of a plea deal for a cocaine arrest. There is no record of an arrest, much less of a court hearing. But Bush was also the son of a sitting Houston Congressman back then and, back then anything was possible. I believe Karl Rove was the person who relayed this information to they guy that wrote "Fortunate Son". The author was suicided a year or two after Bush took office.
