Code Pink Runs Anti-War Ads in Iraq...LOL...actually I think this pic was in Seattle.

Code Pink: Women for Peace is an anti-war group that started in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq.

They describe themselves as a "grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the war in Iraq,

stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education and other life-affirming activities."<1>

Wearing their signature pink color,<2> they have conducted marches, protests, and high-visibility publicity

stunts in order to achieve their goals, earning criticism from President Bush and others. While the group

is initiated and led by women, men are welcome to participate at both the local and national level.

Code Pink states they have more than 250 chapters full worldwide. <3>

After today's McClellan revelations, many of you owe CODE PINK an Apology!!

We were RIGHT!! YOU were WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1/30/07 -- Over 40 women involved with the grassroots organization Code Pink, Women for Peace, delivered a message to Sen. Hillary Clinton's office: despite having spent their whole lives waiting and hoping to vote for a woman for president, many women will refuse to vote for a candidate that still supports the war on Iraq.

Today was not the first time Code Pink has delivered a message to Sen. Clinton. On March 6, 2003 Ms. Clinton met with Code Pink and was presented a choice: receive a pink medal of courage as some of Ms. Clinton's colleauges have, or receive a pink slip. After Ms. Clinton explained her vote for the Iraq war -- on since discredited evidence -- Ms. Clinton was presented with a pink slip. Video of 2003 interaction here (thanks to reader oak 5).

After the women were forced out of Hillary’s office by Capitol Hill Police, many began weaving a ‘web of war’ out of pink fabric and string while chanting ‘End this war, Hillary!’ The police ordered the women to leave the building and six refused, including one of Ms. Clinton’s constituents, Sonia Silbert of New York. The six were arrested by police. The chaos of the arrests was amplified by the 'web of war' and several flags were knocked over.

13. Code Pink Delivers 'Yellow Cake' to Rumsfeld's House - 2003 !!
CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE & EAT IT TOO: Protesting Big Lies About 'Yellow Cake'

07 Aug 2003

by Mike Flugennock

Aug 6: On this prototypical Dog Day afternoon, upwards of fifty to a hundred stalwart, sweltering, sweaty souls of conscience joined Code Pink at Dupont Circle and took a leisurely "cake walk" to Donald Rumsfeld's house
to shed light on the staggering pattern of lies and deception used by Rumsfeld, Bush and others to prop up their rationale for the ongoing war and occupation of Iraq. Once at Rumsfeld's place, Code Pink presented the Defense Secretary with their traditional "report card" detailing his

and the Bush Administration's failures in English ("Bring it on") and geography ("thinks Iraq is the USA").

This was followed with the presentation of the symbolic "yellow cake" symbolizing the non-existent uranium mentioned
by President Junior with his infamous "sixteen dirty words" in the State Of The Union address.

The cake turned out to not be radioactive, entirely edible, and with a sweet creamy lemon frosting.

Mmmmm, nummy.

14. WTF??? Fellow DUers: These folks fight the good fight...
and one of the most important fights too! The fiasco in Iraq drones on and on yet this group of tireless patriots have NOT stopped being an angry bee buzzing in the faces of the war-mongers and the murderous thieves who are corrupting We The People's government! Regardless of what you may think of their tactics, consider their nobel motives, consider what they give up to fight this fight! They have not given up and IMO they deserve our encouragements and yes even our gratitude! I am embarrassed by the response this thread has gotten at this point. This thread deserves far more than the two measly votes it has gotten so far!

18. I dunno, I can maybe see a bit of 'bitterness' over your OP...
...it is technically flame-baiting. That said, it is quite early in the AM here on the left coast and the BIG DU has not started humming along as it will in a short while. Perhaps the angry types will show soon enough. I am not one of those angry folks, my gratitude to Code Pink is quite sincere...as is my embarrassment at the moment by this obvious lack of interest. I am off to bed soon, good luck with this Breeze54

20. Thanks. Reciprocated. Funny, when one thinks of blowhard war supporters...
...usually male, the ridiculous macho posturing, romanticizing of war and patriotism {authoritarianism}, and then think of CODEPINK: which side really has more "balls?"

You got it ;-)
