Soldier From Vermont Dies In Iraq

Soldier Nephew Of Actress, Anti-War Activist

CASTLETON, Vt. -- A Vermont man who is an Army soldier has died during a tour of duty in Iraq.

Jason Dene, 37, of Castleton, Vt., died on May 24 of non-combat related injuries, according to the Department of Defense.

Dene grew up in Rutland and went to Fair Haven High School.

His family told NewsChannel 5 that Dene always wanted to be in the service.

They said he was on his third tour in Iraq.

They also said he was in no shape to return to the wartorn nation but was ordered back in the troop surge.

According to Patrick Farrow, Dene's uncle, the family was told he died of natural causes in his sleep.

Dene's mother is the sister of actress and vocal anti-war activist Mia
Farrow.

Farrow released the following statement on her Web Site on the day of Dene's death.
