***BREAKING*** Chicago Taxi Jumps Curb. Two Pedestrians Injured.
Edited on Thu May-29-08 09:04 AM by Fridays Child
MSNBC's Contessa Hairdo says it's a miracle taxi didn't go through two concrete barriers and end up in water.

WTF!?

Why, why, why is this national breaking news?

Calling my husband now, who's walking to work from the train.
ETA: He's in his office already. Heart Attack #1 over for the day.

4. Specific location? Sorry, I have no idea.
I do hope your husband's okay but my point stands: this is NOT national breaking news.

5. I agree, not national news
It's like on my local news broadcast last night: a one-year-old fell 12 feet, off a raised porch--was reported to be in good condition at the local hospital. Kind of a slow news night!

But to comment on Chicago taxis--as a Wisconsinite who occasionally visits downtown Chicago--sheesh--those things are dangerous! They take corners at breakneck speeds and will come within inches of a pedestrian. All in a day's work!

6. They are crazy...
They also like to push through walkers with the right to cross light on. Blasting their horn the entire time.

When I worked in the city - the one major upside was that I caught the bus after work in the underlevel of wacker/michigan. Very few taxis under there - unless they already have fares. And in that case, most were in the center lanes, not on the sides - because the buses would slow then down.
