and in GD: Primaries he would be being trashed as a DLC neo-con traitor to the cause.

2. Wish you had just stuck with the tribute.
91. Astounding. He will always be no more than 46 - younger than Obama now.

Thanks for the reminder; that part is appreciated.

3. You're right, I should have quit there.
By now I should know better than to venture directly into polite society from that swamp without allowing a little time to de-toxify. (And thanks for the picture of JFK with Caroline. That has always been one of my favorites.)

6. Not a problem. Thanks for the reminder; I'm recommending the thread anyway.
Wish I had a dime for every post I have written in the heat of the moment that I later regret. We all do it. The most important thing is that you have reminded us of this birthday. I was 12 when he was killed, and it's as vivid a memory as though it happened last week. I prefer to remember other times, though. Had the extraordinary privilege to visit the JFK Library in Boston last year. It was fantastic. So many memories.

11. We're the same age, I was also 12 when JFK was killed.
Like you, I remember it as if it were yesterday, right down to the name of the girl sitting next to me in English class when it was announced that he had been shot. A seminal moment for those of our generation.

15. I was in Mrs. Burgoyne's seventh grade history class.
I won't go into details, because you know what I mean. Everything about that weekend is seared into my memory, including watching Ruby shoot Oswald on live TV. I even know where I was sitting in relation to the TV.

The next Thursday was Thanksgiving, and it was the saddest one ever by far. My uncle and aunt and their son, cousin Rick, were Catholic. They were beyond devastated. Anyway, thanks again.

8. Like my dad who died at 47 and would now be 76..........
he will ALWAYS be 47, and only now can I finally be a little grateful that at least he will not ever suffer the indignities of old age and memory loss and dementia..........

4. If his mother Rose was any indication, longevity favors the Kennedy/Fitzgeralds
..that is, barring various assassinations and other tragedies. He would have been an interesting (to say the least) elder statesman to have around for the last 40 years

7. Sadly, Kennedy had a number of physical afflictions.
I doubt he would have lived long past the age of 70. With the Addison's, the back injury, the physical stress his public responsibilities put him under... His waning years would have been difficult. Of course the larger tragedy of losing Kennedy is no doubt the far different course he would have led us on in Vietnam. It would still have been a royal cockup, but I doubt the phrase "Vietnam syndrome" would have applied to the Pentagon culture with quiet the same meaning.

9. Happy Birthday, Captain!
May your anger subside on this auspicious date. Bob Hope would have been 105! Anyway, always thought it interesting he made it to 100, when everybody figured George Burns would (he didn't).

10. I try not to live up to my name. :-)
It's a nickname that I got a long time ago for being very expressive when I talk.

But I couldn't hurt a fly.

13. And Bobby and Teddy would have created the real political dynasty
that could have lasted 24 years and we would have never had NiXXon or Raygun and the world would be a better place.

a Neo Con and globalist even though he is a Democrat. His own party members speak out on it.

Kennedy believed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He supported the workers. These New/DLC Democrats now step all over it.
