Just since 2000 McCain has twelve hundred pages in his Medical records...

1. I think that Jon Stewart was right.
They just used a huge font.

But to be serious, somebody with the skin problems and past history he has, there are a lot more checkups than a normal person.

He also probably travels significantly more than an average person of his age.

There was one hell of a list of pharmaceuticals he was on as well if I recall.

That is what I consider healthy.

3. You don't know much about medical records, do you?
Edited on Thu May-29-08 04:49 PM by silverweb
:D

Each and every diagnostic test has its own page(s). Each and every procedure has its own page(s). Each dictated physician's report has its own page(s). Doctor's medication orders have their own pages. Doctor's handwritten progress notes have their own pages. Nursing notes have their own pages.

They add up fast. Considering McCain's age and his history of cancer (diagnosis, treatment series, and frequent followup tests/examinations), a combined total of 1200 pages in 8 years isn't surprising at all.

7. Well, he's old, he's got lots of history,
and he's got things wrong with him.

Don't forget - those 1200 pages are only the past 8 years.

He's old. Health matters get complicated.

Contrast that with Obama's medical records: a letter from his doctor stating that he's in excellent health.

One visit compiles a lot more than a letter. You are naive.

16. Oh, now, let's not start
If you don't understand what a letter from a physician attesting to one's physical condition encompasses, and you obviously don't, I would never call you naive.

Uninformed, yes.

But not naive. That's just the wrong word.

19. A letter can be part of the medical record.
Edited on Thu May-29-08 04:53 PM by cornermouse
A letter can summarize a visit or a medical record but a medical record is not comprised solely of a letter.

8. I wondered the same thing!
I've been breeding and showing Golden Retrievers for 28 years, and we currently have eleven dogs, ranging in age from one to 10 years.

I guess our file at the vet's is getting close to an inch thick for all those dogs - but even that many dogs and in all that time we are nowhere near 1200 pages - or even 150.

What's up with that many pages in a personal medical record?

9. I don't think *I* have that much
and I'm falling apart at the seams. Of course, I don't have any notes from preventive care because I don't get that, being uninsured. But you'd think somebody with a serious and potentially fatal illness plus a corneal transplant might have accumulated at least that much.

It's just more proof that if you suck at the taxpayer tit, you get truly gold plated medical care.

We can't get it, of course, it's socialist and would make us ordinary folks weak.

Uh, :sarcasm:

10. misinfo
MSM reports McBush showed his medical records to the media.

However, Keith Olbermann reported that what really happened is that they assembled reporters into a room and let them peruse the paper for a few hours. And that was that. If they didn't catch anything in that short window, they are never going to.

Kind of like taking a college course, which consists of being locked in a room for a few hours with the books, and then being removed from the class and taking the final test for the semester right after you're escorted from the room!

But all of America think McSame was open, transparent and forthright with his medical history!

you have to be filthy rich and/or have access to really good insurance to be able to afford that level of medical care.

It would be interesting to know how many pages the average U.S. Senator has in his records.

14. Medical records have to meet all the rules and regulations of

the federal government, the state government, and whichever organization they belong to that inspects them on regularly. They also have to meet the requirements and Medicare, Medicaid, and ALL of the various insurance companies in order to be paid. They have to keep complete records so that their attorneys will be happy should the occasion arise. And depending on the system they use, the record can include everything that is being and has ever been done to the patient within the facility.

And that's why McCain has twelve hundred pages in his medical record.

can buy for him. I bet they run every test known to mankind over and over and over again, just to milk the system. Meanwhile, back in the real world, the uninsured die on a daily basis from lack of care.

18. It's called "hiding in plain sight"
Someone asks you for information. You're forced to give it to them. So, you overload them with more information than they could possibly process in the time alloted. The reporters looking at the records had three hours, couldn't take photos, and couldn't leave the room and come back.

That's the way you hide something, while going through the motions of revealing it.

21. I have that many. Am reasonably healthy, 'tho with a chronic condition, and I'm on Medicare.
I get a lot of tests at times, things come up, get treated and documented, shit happens. They document it all, again.

(aside) I think we can beat McCain on a *lot* of other issues. This one's a loser, imho.

31. Maybe to some, but the catch is that much of the criteria is self-inflicted
If something awful happens to someone, such as dust in the subclavicular fossa or seriously high BUN levels, that person should receive the best medical care possible. The worst thing that could happen, however, is for a hospital patient to make a bad situation even worse through activities that are easily preventable.
