Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" becoming an Opera!
Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" will be made into an opera for La
Scala by Italian composer Georgio Battistelli. It's doubtful Mr. Gore
will have a part (at least not a singing one).

MILAN, Italy - First it was the film and the book. Now the next stop for Al Gore’s "An Inconvenient Truth" is opera.

La Scala officials say the Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli has been commissioned to produce an opera on the international multiformat hit for the 2011 season at the Milan opera house. The composer is currently artistic director of the Arena in Verona.

La Scala also announced Thursday that Daniele Gatti will conduct next season’s gala premiere of Verdi’s "Don Carlo" on Dec. 7.

Italian composer writing opera based on Al Gore's movie
Associated Press - May 30, 2008 7:33 PM ET

MILAN, Italy (AP) - An Italian composer is working on an opera based on Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."

Giorgio Battistelli says he hopes it will help people see global warming from a fresh point of view, adding "Opera makes you reflect."

The Milan, Italy, opera house La Scala plans to present it during the 2011 season.

Battistelli says the opera will be told through characters, not a narrator, and Gore will be included as a figure in the story. He says it will be about "the tragedy of the present situation."

Battistelli began working on the opera a year ago.

3. that's actually a good idea
i had a similar thought on watching the movie, but i don't have the technical skills to create a play/opera -- i think it could potentially be a good one though
