After Thursday’s meeting, Vitter said he had addressed the escort service links previously.

“I think I’ve made it very clear that I made that very serious mistake about 10 years ago

and that I’ve addressed that with my wife and my family,” Vitter said.

“I do think I’ve very clearly addressed that and what I’m focusing on now is really addressing what folks are basically concerned about in terms of their everyday lives.”

While being briefly interviewed Friday, Vitter would neither respond to a question asking him to explain what his “mistake” was nor whether he was relieved about not having to testify in Palfrey’s trial.

Palfrey was convicted April 15 on charges of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering. She hanged herself May 1.
