WHO Calls On Governments To Ban Tobacco Related Advertising

June 3 2008 - The World Health Organization is calling on all governments around the world to put a stop to all tobacco advertising in an effort to reduce the numbers of young people who pick up the habit.

Young people, especially teenagers are very impressionable, making them an easy target for clever marketing tactics used by tobacco companies to promote their products.

"The more young people are exposed to tobacco advertising, the more likely they are to start smoking," read a WHO statement.

According to the WHO, the more advertising that a person is exposed too when it comes to tobacco related products then the greater the likelyhood of that person giving in.
