On a lighter note: Jon Stewart's answer to the question "Is America ready for a Black President?"
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 08:58 PM by Fly by night
In Larry King's recent interview with Jon Stewart, Larry asked him about the primaries. Specifically, Larry asked Jon if America was ready for a woman or a black president.

Jon looked at him quizzically and said "This is such a non-question ...

Did anyone ask us in 2000 if Americans were ready for a MORON?"

Remember that, folks. Get a good night's sleep, awake to a new day and let's work together to kick some serious moronic ass in November.

Fired up!!

Ready to go!!

2. Glad to share a laugh with the Land of Enchantment. You live in a beautiful state.
I get to spend a week in July at 9,000 feet, up near Penasco, Rodarte and Vadito. I can't wait.

4. Thanks, there are some interesting people
and beautiful places up North. Best part is that nobody seems to be in much of a hurry for anything, LOL.

5. Yeah. The first thing I learned when I lived in Santa Fe was that "manana" didn't mean "tomorrow", .
... it just meant "not today".

I also learned about "Indian time" in New Mexico (from my Dineh friends). I've tried to set my internal clock to that time zone ever since.

3. One self-kick so we can share a communal (as in our community) laugh.
Time for bed for this hermit. Have fun tonight, guys.

We've got some serious paciderm punching ahead of us.

6. I only watched Daily Show in 2000 for election coverage
it was too depressing to see what the networks had turned in to and Jon was the only way I could take it.

7. I wish I could get the Daily Show out here in the deep woods.
It is one of the few reasons for me to want to expand my viewing options. (Network TV is driving me nuts with their "reality" shows.)

BTW, I like your DU nickname. We must be related.

11. Way to miss the point. Stewart was pointing out the absurdity of the question
using the best weapon he has, comedy and his rapier wit. In strict comedy terms, that's a damned funny comeback.

Way to miss the point.

12. This has got to be the most incredible leap of logic I've witnessed on DU.
You'd be a medalist if logic-leaping were an Olympic sport.

19. Some people have zero sense of humor...
Where did he say that or even imply that? Do we really have to explain the joke to you? Sigh.

They didn't have to. In an Inverted Totalitarianism like Amerika, the consent of the governed is NOT required.

14. Jon Stewart is a national treasure
I think once whatever network has Katie Couric (CBS?) dumps her, they should offer even more money to Stewart to get him shown to a wider audience.

20. Exactly my reaction when I first read it myself. I had to share with all y'all.
I love the sound of a good belly-laugh at the Rethug's expense.

It sounds like victory.

Fired up. Ready to go.
