Granted, this was the nightly news on the local Fox channel and not the Fox News Network, but still surprising to me! I saw the ad during Family Guy and had to watch.
They talked about how the Al Gore Oscar and electric bill controversy had brought the term "carbon footprint" to the fore. They went on to actually explain what your carbon footprint is. Then explained some ways to lower it such as planting trees or using Green Power. They interviewed a local man leading tree planting initiatives who said this was a "spiritual" quest for him and told how to join his initiative. They mentioned that purchasing just 2 blocks of Green Power a month for $8 was enough to offset 4 months of carbon emissions from driving.
They finished with "By the way, we're told that Al Gore buys more than the recommended 2 blocks. We're told that he buys 108 blocks a month, which is more than enough to cover his electric bill".
WOW! You could have knocked me over with a feather! This on a Fox affiliate. Maybe the controversy is a good thing if it brings more attention to carbon footprints and lowering them. They've even got the video on their website:
