I'd like to suggest a song for the Obama campaign.
"Pick Somebody Up" by Raul Midon.

What do you think, is it upbeat enough or too haunting?

1. Nice sentiment, but the song's not that upbeat
Gotta get those crowds rockin' on the campaign trail!

2. How about Roll with the Changes, REO Speedwagon.
So if you're tired of the
Same old story
Turn some pages
I'll be here when you are ready
To roll with the changes.

Or maybe David Bowie Changes, although REO really rocks.

8. That's a good one!
...but, I have not been able to get Michael Jackson's song out of my head for over a month now. "CHANGE" (you know, "man in the mirror") It's all I can think about. Does anyone have the audio of that???

6. I like this one:
Bob Dylan - Times They Are A Changing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ_XwLSN45I

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you'd better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens
And keep your eyes open, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon, the wheel's still in spin
And there's no telling who that it's naming
Oh the loser will be later to win
For the times, they are a changing

Come senators, congressmen, please head the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled
The battle outside ragging will soon shake your windows
And rattle your hall
For the times, they are a changing

Come mothers and fathers all over this land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughter are beyond your command
Your old role is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand
For the times they are a changing

The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one will later be fast
And the present now will soon be the past
The order is rapidly fading
The first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a changing

9. "Democracy" by Leonard Cohen
I saw video of Obama with this song playing on Democracy Now! a day or two ago. It was really beautiful and inspiring.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5g8CA5ltR8&feature=related

Democracy

It’s coming through a hole in the air
from those nights in tiananmen square
It’s coming from the feel
That it ain’t exactly real
Or it’s real, but it ain’t exactly there
from the wars against disorder
from the sirens night and day
from the fires of the homeless
from the ashes of the gay
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

It’s coming through a crack in the wall
On a visionary flood of alcohol
from the staggering account
Of the sermon on the mount
Which I don’t pretend to understand at all
It’s coming from the silence
On the dock of the bay
from the brave, the bold, the battered
Heart of chevrolet
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

It’s coming from the sorrow on the street
The holy places where the races meet
from the homicidal bitchin’
That goes down in every kitchen
To determine who will serve and who will eat
from the wells of disappointment
Where the women kneel to pray
For the grace of God in the desert here
And the desert far away
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

Chorus
Sail on, sail on
O mighty ship of state!
To the shores of need
Past the reefs of greed
Through the squalls of hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on...

It’s coming to america first
The cradle of the best and of the worst
It’s here they got the range
And the machinery for change
And it’s here they got the spiritual thirst
It’s here the family’s broken
And it’s here the lonely say
That the heart has got to open
In a fundamental way
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

It’s coming from the women and the men
O baby, we’ll be making love again
We’ll be going down so deep
That the river’s going to weep
And the mountain’s going to shout amen!
It’s coming like the tidal flood
Beneath the lunar sway
Imperial, mysterious
In amorous array
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

Chorus

I’m sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can’t stand the scene
And I’m neither left or right
I’m just staying home tonight
Getting lost in that hopeless little screen
But I’m stubborn as those garbage bags
That time cannot decay
I’m junk but I’m still holding up
This little wild bouquet
Democracy is coming to the u.s.a.

14. "Where are the keys to the kingdom?" ...open the door, and walk right in.
by Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Got the Love, average white band.

But the best, the very very best, is by the O'Jays...Give the People What they Want!
