Poll question: Do you feel safer ........ ?
Do you feel in any way, to any degree, safer because of the airport rules causing you to be, sniffed, groped, smelled, x-rayed, peeked at, profiled, patted down and treated like a murder suspect?

Do you feel more secure because you are asked to 'show your ID, please' to do damned near anything?

I don't. I feel REALLY FUCKING ANGRY about it. But I find that many people seem much more 'okay' about it.

How do you feel?

1. it was someone in DU that wisely pointed out:

"all it will take is one idiot with a bomb up their ass, and you know what comes next at airport security..."

2. I wish they'd lift the god damn liquid ban already.
That's the one that pissed me off the most. Cant have essential supplies unless they fit in a small baggie and even then you have to take it out and put it through the x-ray machine. :grr:

They don't care if someone blows up a plane or even 2 major buildings. All they care about is that they can tell you that you can't have water on the plane and that you may have to have a finger stuck up your ass before you can get on a plane.

At this point, "Show me your papers" seems mild in comparison.

6. I would feel safer if Bush & Co. had done their jobs in 2001 and protected
us from what hit in September. They had warnings, and they ignored them.

We all know the results of their negligence.

And now they've made us less safe, our own government reports have said so. Who am I going to believe? A gang of crooks who are documented as lying to us or someone else?

7. I've seen people wear show shoes (flip-flops) on the plane
and have to take them off and run them through the x-ray scanner. Other times it doesn't seem to matter.
At least now I can go through wearing jeans with rivets on them. I got chewed out once for that.

8. Last time I went to the airport, I had to take off my shoes, and for good reason.

I wore steel toed boots. I have no problem whatsoever with that specific instance because the point of the shoe removal should be to ensure no weapons are making it onto the plane.

The metal detectors would have gone off, and I would have had to take off my shoes anyway.

Other than that, the rest of it is a test. How much bullshit will we put up with?

9. Last time I was on a plane they DIDN'T find the solid metal arch
support that was lying loose under the Dr Scholl pad in one shoe.

I had expected them to find it. To take it out and throw it away.

They did't.

Is THAT scary?

10. Scary? Yep. Surprising, no.

Remember the stories about the scanner that would overlay fake images of guns into baggage to test the screener? And how many screeners never even noticed?
