diploma.

I only found out yesterday that this man missed high school graduation because at the tender age of 17 he was sent to war, specifically Normandy.
So, this year, he will be getting an honorary degree, along with all the 17-18 year-olds graduating. He's now mid-80s?
And this will be an honor for him, and all concerned. It's nice that stuff like this can still happen.
Sadly, not for much longer, but I feel honored for knowing this guy. The things you learn!

will issue high school diplomas to any former student of AHISD who can show they were on active duty in WWII & didn't get their diploma. Doesn't matter why they didn't get it (dropped or flunked out; ran away & lied about their age--my uncle). If you served in WWII, they'll see that you get your AHHS diploma. :patriot:

on edit: they issue them posthumously as well.

3. That's nice!
My dad ran away to join the war and lied about his age. He never did get his diploma. He died 10 years ago.

5. Check with his high school
If they're like most schools, they'll be happy to add him to the list of graduates. :)

4. That's a really classy thing to do. At their time of life it's no longer a "union card", but the
symbolic value is immense. Very classy. And unexpected, for Texas.

6. Why unexpected?
Military service is respected in Texas. Well, maybe not among the rich GOPers, but almost everyone else does & especially in SA, which has or had several army & AF bases.
