I see a lot of threads about impeachment. However, while I think there is a valid basis for impeachment. Pragmatically, Bush is not going to get impeached in the remaining 6 months of his term, and the fact of the matter is that the damage is done. Too little, too late.
The big issue I think is the danger of a cover-up and a white wash through the use of the pardon power. The most obvious beneficiary of a pardon is Scooter Libby who had his sentence reduced, but who is continuing to appeal his conviction at tax payer expense. However, what steps is the Bush administration doing to cover up its crimes through the planned use of the pardon power?
I would like to see the Democrats aggressively investigate this, and I would like to hear what McCain has to say about this, because he did support the idea of pardoning Libby during the primaries. Lets see what he has to say now to the general electorate.
