4. How about "Other"?
If I absolutely had to chose between those two, I would pick Cuba probably. At least I would have a chance of floating to Key West.

7. I would love to see all those old cars in Cuba - I love old cars

The climate in Cuba is probably wonderful, when they're not having hurricane trouble. And I absolutely love, Love, LOVE those wonderful Cuban cigars. But with all its history and scenic wonder, India would probably be a fascinating place to spend some time, if I could live there in reasonable comfort. I would probably pick India just to be exposed to a very different and rich culture that would probably change me forever, but I wouldn't want to live on the streets in horrible poverty like many of the hapless souls live in that great nation. I saw a documentary from several years back about life on the streets in Calcutta and it didn't look like a picnic.

8. I've been to a very small part of India called Bangalore.
If there is a nosier more crowed more polluted place on earth I don't know of it. I have seen nature specials that show nice parts of India and I'm sure most of the country is great. But the Indian "middle Class" lives worse than American inner city poor. Even some of our street homeless have it better than many of the working class over there. The poverty is a whole new level.

The Indian bureaucracy might as well be a communist country so government freedoms is less of an advantage than one would think. But in India you can get away with speaking English and there are a lot of americans and Brits about which I admit I like.

I have never been to Cuba and I am sure parts of it are gorgeous.

So I can't make a proper judgment but would probably pick India in a pinch.

13. i have absolutely NO desire nor interest in EVER visiting india. cuba, on the other hand...
would be excellent. i definitely hope i get the opportunity to visit cuba...although i suppose it would be too much to expect that there might be some pristine dive sites anywhere around the island?

but to re-iterate- i wouldn't go to india on a bet, and even if it were a life-and-death situation for me...i'd have to think long and hard about it.

14. Very interesting question.
India probably has a better diversity of ecolotypes so if that kind of variability (and mobility was included) was important it could be a deciding factor. Also the time involved might have an influence - you say live there - I ask for how long? I could probably do a year or two in India but I suspect I could do longer in Cuba. Not sure though as I have been to neither place. I'll go if somebody buys me a ticket though! (travel whore for sure!)

15. Cuba.
I don't have kids or a spouse, and I will be old and need care someday. Cuba takes care of their elders.
