2. 43. Damn, puts my life in sad perspective.

Then again, I'd rather be me than him, anyway!

11. Bush I said he was the best man for that appointment.
Said it with a straight face, too.

13. The sick purpose of that statement, as you probably remember as well as I do
was to mock, in the minds of conservatives, anyway, Affirmative Action. The Republicans were all whipped up into the delusion that AA was some quota program that promoted unqualified African Americans over more qualified white people. That was Reagan's whole message (may he burn in Hell forever). Intelligent people countered that AA only forced employers (the few who were affected by it) to consider all applicants, so they could choose the best qualified candidate, not just the best qualified white candidate.

Bush was mocking that, choosing someone clearly unqualified and then using that choice to slam Affirmative Action and such equality programs.

15. Perfectly stated.
And despite how many years on the bench, Slappy still can't get his head out of Scalia's ass long enough to participate?

Disgraces, the whole lot of them.

17. Thomas was chosen to fill the "black" vacancy left by Thurgood Marshall.

What an outrage that a giant of the civil rights movement and constitutional modernity was replaced by such an intellectual pygmy. Liberals were powerless to stop confirmation of this stooge because he was black.

Well played Poppy Bush. No ice water for you.

12. Just a few years younger than Obama, or Clinton when he took office.
I don't mind the age. I don't like the package, though, at any age.

What he had going for him at that age was a long life at a time when Bush realized they were about to lose the White House for a long time.

14. Yup.
And he's proven himself unqualified.

Even after all this time he still can't participate.

What a waste of a seat.
