Olberman is running the MSNBC broadcast right now
I think this tells you what the food chain is at MSNBC. Also, where the hell is Matthews?

I think Matthews is also Irish Catholic.
So I'm sure that Russert is an idol.

9. It wouldn't surprise me either...
...Tom Brokaw looked like he was barely able to keep it together when he made the announcement.

2. Keith is the best at times like this.
I'll never forget his coverage when JP II was dying.

5. They've all been a mess today
And I mean that kindly. Olberman, Mitchell, Todd, Brokaw, all look like they are hurting.

4. Matthews does have a house in the Hamptons I believe, probably took
today off. Obviously Keith is the "go to guy" though, doing a wonderful job and holding it together as only a professional can do...

6. Rachel said the regular lineup has been scrapped for tonight --
but that doesn't answer the question as to where Tweety is.

If he hasn't been seen, I'm guessing he may be on vacation or something?

as well as anyone on the network. I've always heard Russert was a good boss and colleague.

11. here's why matthews won't be the choice
His diabetes is out of control, he does not have the energy to deal with the grind, and he steps on people's answers way too much, making the interview about him, not the interviewee

18. I watched NBC Nightly News tonight, and it was all about Russert
There were several folks talking about Russert who were on the verge of tears. Mike Barnicle looked particularly broken up.
