Conyers reemphasizes subpoena threat for Rove testimony
http://rawstory.com/news08/2008/06/16/conyers-reemphasizes-subpoena-threat-for-rove-testimony/

By Nick Juliano | Uncategorized | Monday, 16 June 2008

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers restated his demand that Karl Rove, a former top aide to Presdient Bush, testify next month about his alleged involvement in politicizing the Justice Department, particularly in the prosecution of a former Democratic governor in Alabama.

Conyers (D-MI) and Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA), chair of an administrative law subcommittee, on Monday sent a letter to Rove’s lawyer reiterating their expectation that Rove comply with a subpoena compelling his testimony at a July 10 hearing. Discussions between committee staff and the lawyer, Robert Luskin, deteriorated when Rove’s attorney offered only to make him available for off-the-record interviews strictly focused on the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

“As Committee staff made clear, and as we indicated in our May 1 letter, the proposal that we somehow seek to separate the Siegelman matter from the broader issue of politicization of the Justice Department is unacceptable,” the two lawmakers wrote. “At this point, moreover, we have not even received a formal objection to the subpoena, which is a legal mandate that Mr. Rove appear as scheduled.”

3. Miers and Bolton set a precedent.
Since Congress is not willing to ENFORCE the subpoenas they issue, they have FORFEITED their subpoena power. There's no point in issuing any more of this meaningless paper.

7. BS. Yeah, and a burglar broke into my house, so now I removed the locks!!
What a crock of logic that is, right? That burglar forfeited my right to locks, if your logic prevails!!
