What did you do before you watched the news 24 hours a day?
Remember back in the dark ages of 1989 when people would come home...watch the local news...watch Dan Rather...and then watch, like, Wheel of Fortune and The Cosby Show the rest of the night?

In all the complaining about how Tim Russert is taking about valuable news time, I have to question - AGAIN - how valuable all this time really is?

Do you learn anything by watching 6 hours of MSNBC a day? Wouldn't you be better off reading a book?

Christ, wouldn't you be better off watching the Real World and letting your brain rest? (This season rocks by the way!)

2. Making newspapers will make you smarter
Watching 6 hours of tv news will make you a vegetable.

I'm actually most upset about this Russert thing, because his show was probably the one hour of the 10,000 hours of news each week I felt was worth watching.

4. Not doing anything is probably better than obsessing over cable news =)
Reading FT once a day, or even once a week, is more informative than talk radio or TV combined...

5. Well, I used to watch actual news a time or two a day.
Now, that's no longer available.

So I watch the comedy shows (John and Steven) and the commentary shows (Keith, and sometimes Dan).

6. I've never watched the news 24 hours a day.
During my last marriage, the news was on from 10:00 - 11:00 every night. For 12 years. I didn't watch tv news before that, and I haven't watched it since.

Somehow, I manage to keep up with current events without the tv or radio.

7. I don't watch...
but I think if I gave up DU I'd have the whole neighborhood painted in a week. As it is, I've got a mess of projects going, but for some reason I never get around to them.

8. I was an MSNBC junkie for a few years until several months ago. I just literally had it.
I was tired of their non-reporting, their bias and often, down right lies. lol!

I still watch Countdown and unless there is a heads-up for anything important on cable news, I avoid it now. I do of course watch Stewart's and Colbert's fake news, almost religiously!

I really wish I could read a book and have several sitting here unread. Up until working on the Internet I would read 4-5 books a week. For some reason, my eyes can't physically handle reading
books.

So I search for interesting streaming video on the net. There are some great sites that offer streaming of documentaries, movies and old and current tv programs (including some UK tv). :)

I also EnJoy meditation. :)

Peace.
