2. I was picturing a huge sling shot, where planes are flung from
one location to another.

Would need lots of padding inside for the passengers, though. :rofl:

See, there's this little thing some of us like to call the jet stream...

That aside, I'd really need to see an analysis of this thing. Plans to do things like power turbines with wind resistance while in flight would fundamentally alter the craft's aerodynamic properties.

Sounds like a complete pipe dream to me.

Flight sfrom NY to Chicago just went from 3 hours to 34 hours, seeing as they have to fly with the westerlies...
