1. So far, it kicks ass.
But I've only been using it for an hour.

2. Seems very good.
Fast, stable, with some very useful features. To tell the truth, I've been using the beta and RC versions for so long, I can't remember what FF2 was like anymore. FF3 does the job nicely.

faster. Very cool. :)

9. Just downloaded FF3, been using a beta version for a few weeks
I haven't really gotten into all the bells and whistles yet, but a few things I like:

1. Memory usage was a problem in the betas. The final version seems better.

2. Pages that took forever to load before are much quicker now.

3. Bookmarking is a bit easier.

4. I like the download toolbar memo thingy at the bottom of the page.

5. When typing in addresses, FF will pop up a short list of various sites that you may be looking for.

6. Many of the most popular add-ons (like NoScript, AdBlock, ScribeFire, Download helper and IE View) already work.

Other than that, I'll have to consciously fool around with it a bit more. So far, I like it.

11. I've been using it for a few weeks now... pretty good, but i have
one big gripe:

The download feature no longer works right with files of an unknown size, it hangs every time now. FF2 never did this!

Otherwise, pretty darn good.

I'm not a bookmark kind of guy and use the address bar for most of my favorites. Not too happy with that "improvement" but otherwise it works very well.

Now to figure out how to get the email thingy back in the toolbar, I forgot how I got it into 'customize' a couple years ago.

Lovely. I especially like being able to zoom everything onscreen, and not just text. Everything looks correct now when I zoom, even sites with tables. Shoot, video streams also zoom with the rest of the page.

Nice.

22. UGH...until it can Mimic Netscape 7.02 (without the conflicts) it's unusable to Researchers....
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 08:16 PM by KoKo01
I don't know what Firefox is about...but for those who do research ...it sucks.

I got some good tips on how to "work around Firefox's deficiencies" on a post here on DU. I thank those who posted...and I'm certainly not going to APPLAUD the Firefox 3.0 Roll Out when they keep getting rid of features I signed onto Firefox to use...and they don't support them. Like "Send Link" and "Integrated E-Mail." I think Firefox is going backwards for frequent users who they need to attract from IE and AOL instead of FORWARD. I had better ability to use my Browser (Old Netscape) in 1997 than FIREFOX gives me TODAY with all their "Open Ware..Sharing" HYPE!

Here's the DU Post about "New Firefox" that I'm referencing:

29. "Send Link..." is in Firefox 3.0
I mentioned this in a reply in the other thread you referenced. I just now installed version 3.0 on my wife's laptop and "Send Link..." is definitely there. Put the mouse over the link, right click and you will see the "Send Link..." option in the context menu.

I'm not certain what you mean by "Integrated E-Mail" as that could mean a couple of things. If it means being able to send a link via email, it's there now. If you mean a browser and email client in the same application then it won't be there and it won't be in Firefox, if ever. That is what SeaMonkey is for.

32. Um, it does have a 'send link' feature.
Just right-click on any link. Dunno about email since Outlook does the job fine for me so I've felt no need of an alternate solution. I do lots of research and fine Firefox great. Anything Firefox doesn't do there's probably an extension for.

27. Only complaint: add-ons
They seem to have made the process of obtaining new add-ons or themes a bit more convoluted. Now, you need to choose "get add-ons", then "browse add-ons", taking you to a page where you must choose 'themes' from the sidebar menu. On previous versions, you could navigate directly to a 'themes' or 'add-ons' page. No biggie, just seems like a step backwards in user friendliness.

Also, I'm not sure what makes a theme compatible with one version of FF but not another. There appear to be very few that will work with 3.0 so far. It would be nice if you could search only for themes or add-ons compatible with your current FF version. Only after selecting one do you get the message "for use with older versions of Firefox".

33. Sort the addons in date order - only the newest ones will work with FF3
Cut off is about June 15 - one theme I wanted to try was dated June 13. x(

30. Using it now. Pretty good, I like many of the available features.
My favorite is that it will open with all of the pages that you were using when you closed it last.

34. As a brand new FF user...
I like it, and find it easy to use from a longtime IE user POV.

When using my friend's computer who had previous versions of FF, I didn't really like it, but it may just be because she had so many addons that it totally cluttered it up. I got her hand me down laptop, and every time I started FF, it wanted to download add-on updates because she had so many. She also had a lot of settings I wouldn't have had, so it gave me a bad impression of the program.

Now, since I installed it myself and configured it myself, I like it much better, though I can't tell what aspects I like better due to configuring it myself vs what may be update improvements.

It's fast and intuitive, and those are my first impressions.
