Gas Price Rant

Can you believe these gas prices? Your telling me, eh?

I'm gonna come back to this thread in a few hours because I have to run a few errands first. Gotta go across town to see my favorite mechanic cause the brakes on my SUV are squealing. Then uptown to get some flowers for my neice's third grade graduation party and then balloons back this way a bit. Then downtown to the bank, and I'll stop and see my friend Betty (will have lunch at Olive garden) then get to the southside to pick up clothes at my dry cleaners, and then I'll be home and we can all raise hell about me having to spend close to $40 bucks just to get a few things taken care of before I go back downtown tonight to the party and after we finally go to that new restaurant we've never been to. It is kinda far but we need to get out and around or we stagnate, know what I mean?

So see ya later and wish me luck, shoot the traffic on a 100 mile errand run like today is gonna be hard on this old girl, and dangerous, too.

It reads like you're making fun of people who complain about gas prices while going on unnecessary errands all over town.

Do you need to go across town to see your favorite mechanic just for squealing brakes in your SUV? You're not driving an old collector car that requires special mechanical expertise. Any competent mechanic in your neighborhood could check the brakes on an SUV. Better yet, you could learn how to do a brake job yourself and save some money.

Do you need to go uptown to buy flowers? Isn't there a nearby florist? And balloons?

Isn't there a bank branch in your immediate neighborhood? If not, maybe you need to change banks to one that offers more local branches.

Do you need to go to a special dry cleaner on the southside?

That new restaurant that is far away better be worth it.

But isn't that life as we know it? Running to and fro doing meaningless actions while burning our precious fuels and polluting the air?

...because it's a tad less painful to look at the total charge that way. Thank gods I don't commute -- and I don't have to change my driving habits much because I have always made a loop when doing errands.

This situation just begs for stiff federal regulations.
