FISA: Jonathan Turley says, Dems are protecting THEMSELVES.

I just saw Jonathan Turley on Countdown, who concluded to Keith Olbermann that the FISA immunity compromise is happening most likely as a result of top Dems who themselves fear retribution for their complicity in Bush's illegal spying activities.

Jonathan Turley makes the point that several years ago, certain Dems were strong-armed by Bush into quietly going along with Bush's illegal spying activities, and now those same Dems are afraid that they themselves could be held liable for any illegal spying committed by Bush and the Telecomm companies.

Keith Olbermann then concluded by saying that the Dems are thus covering their own asses.

36. Jane Harmon for another
Jane Harmon represents relatively wealthy people from the west side of Los Angeles. She thinks she knows so much better than anyone else. She is very right-wing.

I guess Turley didn't get that news.

What evidence did they cite? There is none, right?

16. LC, have you looked in the mirror lately?
I've started to notice your posts lately

I think I hear a bunch of "my party right or wrong"

Forgive me, but it wasn't cool when Archie Bunker did it

and it's not cool now

It's obvious we have bad apples in our party too.

Not as many, or I wouldn't be a dem

But sometimes it's time to weed the garden

Yes, even in an election year

Maybe especially

22. Weed seeds
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 08:48 PM by seemslikeadream

Song of Choice

Early every year the seeds are growing
Unseen, unheard they lie beneath the ground
Would you know before their leaves are showing
That with weeds all your garden will abound?

If you close your eyes, stop your ears
Shut your mouth then how can you know ?
For seeds you cannot hear may not be there
Seeds you cannot see may never grow

In January you've still got the choice
You can cut the weeds before they start to bud
If you leave them to grow high they'll silence your voice
And in December you may pay with your blood

So close your eyes, stop your ears,
Shut your mouth and take it slow
Let others take the lead and you bring up the rear
And later you can say you didn't know

Every day another vulture takes flight
There's another danger born every morning
In the darkness of your blindness the beast will learn to bite
How can you fight if you can't recognise a warning?

Today you may earn a living wage
Tomorrow you may be on the dole
Though there's millions going hungry you needn't disengage
For it's them, not you, that's fallen in the hole

It's alright for you if you run with the pack
It's alright if you agree with all they do

If fascism is slowly climbing back

It's not here yet so what's it got to do with you?

The weeds are all around us and they're growing
It'll soon be too late for the knife
If you leave them on the wind that around the world is blowing
You may pay for your silence with your life

So close your eyes, stop your ears,
Shut your mouth and never dare
And if it happens here they'll never come for you
Because they'll know you really didn't care

Peggy Seeger

30. Here's some evidence L
Top Congressional Democrats were briefed on these programs years ago. Having knowledge of a serious crime and doing nothing is itself a crime. The Dems who knew of these activities and did nothing are, by definition, criminally complicit.

Rockefeller is among a small group of congressional leaders who have received briefings on the administration's four-year-old program to eavesdrop—without warrants—on international calls and e-mails of Americans and others inside the United States with suspected ties to al-Qaida.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8EK2VEO7&show_article=1

And more here..

But some in Congress were informed of the wiretaps and did nothing to stop them. Instead, the ranking Democrat on Senate Intelligence, Jay Rockefeller, wrote a private letter to Vice President Dick Cheney expressing his "lingering concerns" and saying he'd keep it on file for posterity--or more precisely, for posterior-covering.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/weekend/hottopic/?id=110007783

There is evidence galore that the Dem leadership knew about these crimes.

And if that's not enough, the effort to derail the ongoing legal actions by providing amnesty to the criminals also constitutes evidence.

No evidence. You're a funny guy.

14. Those chickens come home to roost, now don't they?
It was just days ago on DU the same opinion was voiced by several of us, and the usual apologists turned out in full force. It's called collaboration and complicity. Again it becomes very apparent that certain members of Congress--especially Congressional leadership--care more about saving their own skins and cushy jobs than protecting the Constitution and adhering to the rule of law.

and in the same breath says she is concerned about American families, give me a break, she is in this so deep it's not funny. I feel that the pressure cooker is going to pop soon. Those floods in the Mid West, trying to drill in the Atlantic and ANWR, things are mounting.

34. They are afraid of BLACKMAIL. You can not sue the federal government or its
officials for failure to pass a law (such as an oversight law). If people could sue Congress for what laws they do and do not pass, people would have been suing Congress for years. That is the only power that Congress has---the power to pass legislation and appropriate money through legislation.

The members of Congress can be controlled in three ways

1. Blackmail treats

2. Bribes

3. Election year politics----the telecoms can bankroll their opponents

I am betting that it is a case of number 1 since the spying ops will have given the phone companies access to lots of info about the Congress members and their families.
