When can I stop holding my nose?
Impeachment, Habeas, the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments...

To be honest, the stench of the Congressional leadership is so overpowering I might just hang on to the old schnozz for a little while longer.

2. One hand on your nose...
...leaves you with only one hand to fight off the GOP.

Use a clothespin.

4. I'm guessing if Obama wins big
you'll see the gloves come off to some extent; maybe they'll be emboldened a bit if he's heading into September or so with big leads in the polls. But I think it's a mistake to assume that their agenda in congress is anything like yours would be: they see you as a scary leftist insurgent who's rocking the hell out of their very comfortable boat. They wish you'd just shut up and go back to work.

5. Wasn't that the exact argument used in 2006?
When we win a majority in Congress, when we're in the Speaker's chair, the gloves will come off and * won't be able to take a dump without permission?

When we win big in the NEXT election, or maybe the one after that...

7. It was.
And you're right. I'm not sure what it will take; better Democrats in office, maybe. The current crop mostly don't see things the way we do--that much is pretty clear.

12. Agreed.
I hope Obama will push hard for better congressional leadership in January. Pelosi, Hoyer and Reid are all pathetic losers, IMO. Out with them—give me Feingold as Senate Majority Leader and maybe Wexler as speaker and we might have a slightly different state of affairs.

18. I'm not holding my breath
I'll vote for him because he's the Democratic nominee, but I don't believe Barack Obama will be any different that anyone else attempting to get elected to public office.

There, I said it.

29. There's that.
We'll see what we see, I guess. Without sounding too much like a true believer, I'm encouraged by Obama's apparent take on things so far, and his willingness to translate stated principles into action. I know he's not everybody's dream date, but so far he's been pretty damn good. And I'll leave it at that.

Peace!
