This Is Probably Why The Democrats Gave In On The Supplemental Bill
The Democrats drug the fight out as long as they could. I received a copy of a memo from the Deputy Secretary of Defense earlier this month instructing the military services to begin preparations to shut down operations due to funding shortfalls. That memo contained these ominous words, “Military personnel will serve without pay until such time as appropriated funds are available to compensate them for this period of service… Civilian employees not engaged in exempt activities will be furloughed, i.e., placed in a non-work, non-pay status.”

They were blackmailed...................

FUK this administration..........:grr: :grr: :grr:

:hi:

1. So why didn't they publicize it?
They could have taken it to the people and gotten support for standing against the new bill.

2. Well . . .

True, but the MSM would have been all over them, and honestly, Obama simply HAS to get elected to save this country. The fight might not have been worth it to them just yet, sad to say. No doubt many of today's FISA enablers had similar motives.

3. And just when will the fight be worth it to them?
We've been hearing how they're waiting for right moment to take a stand for over 7 years.

5. Mhm

I knew that would draw some sarcastic responses.

I wasn't defending either decision; just confirming what the OP said about a plausible rationale. Hoyer and Pelosi are cowards. Maybe Obama will come out in the next day or two and wildly attack the FISA bill.

7. They weren't blackmailed. They're corporate servants.

You're beginning with the assumption that these people were actually opposed to granting telcoms immunity. They weren't. They weren't blackmailed, and they aren't cowards or stealth Republicans. They're corporate servants.

From day one they've been trying to maneuver themselves into a position from which they could grant immunity to their bosses, but blame it on someone else. It took awhile, and the public scrutiny made it very difficult. After a lot of searching, this was the best cover they could come up with.
