The framing of the domestic drill for oil "debate"

Dear friends lets remember not to fall into the false premise that the RW pushes regarding this.
I have heard many well intentioned individuals falling into and debating from RW falsehoods.

Let me explain:

"We" and "Ours"

Words the Bushies and McCain use when describing domestic oil.

Oil corporations don't pump more oil to lower prices and it is not yours or mine.
Sure much of it it is on public land, which we give away to the oil giants via bargain basement leases, but "our" oil it is not.

Last time I checked USA petroleum was not a nationalized commodity so all this "we" and "ours" talk coming from the Grand Oil Party is nothing but "feel good" jingoistic bullshit designed to placate the stupid and twist the energy debate.

As if drilling off our shores will somehow benifit us citizens.
What a joke.

You only own that oil when you give it away off public lands to the corporations and then when you pay at the pump and it enters your vehicles.
Oil companies are not loyal to any country, nor it's citizens. They are multi-nationally owned.

So the next time a politician talks in term of "our" oil then realize they mean them and their corporate oil cronies and not us.
