You want to fund this slaughter you call a "war" and back fill for TelCo felons? Fine! As long as we're clear.
Live with your reputation. You earned it and I'm not going to wring my hands over it. I did my part. I called and emailed and donated and phone banked. I can't by myself prevent you from dismantling what's left of this republic. That's on you.
Nancy Pelosi is a disgrace to this district and to this nation. She was wrong about the benchmarks, she is wrong about impeachment and she's wrong about FISA. But, that's okay. It goes on her Permanent Record, not mine. Those briefings about torture and wiretapping, that goes on her record, too. She's going to need a big fat binder to hold it all. Harry Reid's Senate may need to be checked for a pulse before its somnambulent contribution is updated.
I am going to support and to vote for Obama. And I will take every opportunity I can to ask him and his campaign what his position is on the Torture Congress and their Constitutional giveaways. "So, Senator Obama, why should you vote to give the Torture President the power to spy on American citizens without a warrant? Give corporate lawbreakers a fig leaf?" -- it's not that hard. I can do that.
I have no illusions at all about what I'm doing in backing Obama. And the Torture Congress will be known forever for how they accommodated little Bush at the people's great cost, and how fascism became a newly current term, and how they nearly tanked the best candidate we've seen in forty years.
It doesn't matter. We can't work with what isn't there. If the Torture Congress wants to pretend they are doing the people's work, God bless them. They will have to keep up their own pretense. We have other work to do -- in our neighborhoods, on our networks, and for our children's futures. Let them have their CSPAN Theater -- they've paid enough for it. We have to keep focus on what we need and how to carve it out of the cold leftovers of the Bush administration. Not every show belongs on Broadway, right?
We already have a big job on our hands without trying to somehow rescue the Torture Congress's reputation even in our own damn imagination. They worked hard to get to where they are today. Maybe it's time to simply let them enjoy their results.
We have real stuff to do for real people. The Torture Congress, not so much.
