10. A "brie and cheese" party -- sounds like an informal get together in the current White House.

I'm thinking Bush likes a nice wedge of Velveeta.

22. I know brie is cheese. Our current CIC does NOT, however.
He used that phrase in an attempt to be disparaging of West Coast liberals:

"Bush, who has tweaked the press about his choice of Crawford -- a sunbaked crossroads where summer temperatures hover around the century mark -- suspecting them of a preference for 'sucking in the salt air' on the East Coast, displayed similar disdain for those who would vacation on the West Coast. 'Brie and cheese,' he sniffed after learning one reporter had just returned from California." --Reuters, 8/23/01

2. NASCAR needs a wealthy african american to sponsor a car
with a black driver and a black crew and have some success. Might fill those stands up with black spectators and make for some interesting viewing.

5. A Black Record Company Sponsered Car
pushing all of the BET/MTV stereotypes on purpose would be hilarious! I can imagine all of the racist derision from the other drivers. Especially if that team started winning.

8. No. I'm quite certain the other drivers would not be derisive....
the fans, however, would be. There is massive unbridled hatred for any team or driver that isn't "All-American" like Billy-Bob, his ownself.

don't recall who it was. A retired football player, I think. Was in the 2nd tear classification... "Nationwide" series. Don't recall what happened.

24. Brad Daugherty owned a NASCAR NCT team & is now a NASCAR analyst for ESPN.
From Wiki....

Following his retirement from the NBA, Daugherty co-owned a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team (Liberty Racing) featuring such drivers as Kenny Irwin Jr. and Kevin Harvick. In 1997 Irwin won two Craftsman Truck Series races driving for Daugherty (Homestead-Miami Speedway in March and Texas Motor Speedway in June). Daugherty joined ESPN's return to NASCAR racing telecasts in 2007. He is currently an analyst on NASCAR Countdown, ESPN's new pre-race show, and on NASCAR Now, a nightly newscast on the sport.

9. Whats the big deal?
It just wine, we have always been known to be fond of wine down south. Maybe not French, or California wines but wine none the less.

Besides it's usually Champagne (just sparkling white actually) being chugged by the winner. Would that not be even more elitist?

Guess i'll get back to my beer, brush my tooth(gotta save that one!), and burn a cross before i have a go at my cousin since thats how i'm supposed to act being from the South and all.

25. Louis Meyer, in 1936, started one of the stupidest traditions in Motor Sport.
I would bet a weeks wages that if you took a poll of race car drivers, asking them what drink they want after driving 500 miles at 200 MPH, the LAST thing they would want to drink is fucking milk. Blech!

Back in 1993, Emerson Fittipaldi drank Orange Juice because he owns orange groves in Brazil. Certainly it is a more healthy drink, but it caused such a furor as to be ridiculous. Milk was essentially forced on him and he grudgingly took a small sip.

Milk in the Indianapolis 500 winners circle is a dumbass tradition. Let the drivers drink what ever they want.

Tim Wilson wrote that when Gordon was the dominant driver in Nascar. Hendricks hasn't been doing that well this year. Or Jeff could be getting old.

34. I think the emergence of Toyota hasn't helped him either.
It could also be that they haven't got the COT dialed in to their satisfaction. Too often you can hear him complaining about handling and power. The COT is not as easy to drive as the old car. It could be like a ball player having to use a different weight bat. It throws everything off. But, as you said, he could be getting old.

35. There's a bit of a parallel with F1
Since they took away traction control on the F1 cars drivers like Hamilton and Massa are winning and the old stars are struggling to keep up. The COT is probably the most plausible reason for Hendrick's problems. It's a whole new way of racing and they're playing catch up.

18. Elitist? He's drinking MOTOR OIL!
That's Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil. I remember in the old cartoon Mutant League that the mutants used to eat and drink weird things; one of them was that they drank the same oil they put in their race vehicles.

I also remember that some of the more brain-damaged rednecks I've encountered bragged that they were "weaned on paint thinner." So this shouldn't be a surprise.

20. Great pic!
Everybody makes fun of nascar, but it's an intense sport. Jeff Gordon started bottling wine under his name in 2005. Notice the Childress....wine is for the wine drinker, wherever he comes from.

<snip> Childress will soon have competition. The California-born driver Jeff Gordon is coming out with his own wine, beginning with a chardonnay in the fall. He will be affiliated with Briggs & Sons Winemaking Company of Calistoga, Calif., in Napa Valley.

Gordon is not going for the Nascar crowd, though.
"It's a high-end wine that is going to be exclusive to get," he said. "Yes, my name is on it, and that certainly isn't going to hurt things, but it's not race related and it's not something we're trying to take to race fans."
